"Education and Experience Where IT Matters."

Work Samples

Children's Campaign, Inc.

The largest impact I have made was with my time at Children's Campaign, Inc, a non-profit advocacy organization that works to make children's issues heard through grassroots and legislative policy changes. As a result, the campaign's use of technology in order to accomplish their mission is a critical part of their organization. I have used my position as Systems Administrator to further several changes, described in more detail below.

Web 2.0 Outreach Initiative

One of most influential projects I've undertaken was the Web 2.0 Outreach Initiative that has been a pivotal change in the way the campaign communicates with youth. Part of the disconnect that previously happened was that we were not reaching a younger, more vocal audience. Through the changes I helped suggest by using the power of Web 2.0, Social Networks, and more youth-oriented material, we have been able to reach this audience like never before.

Disaster Recovery Policy Planning & Implementation

Children's Campaign's intellectual property is of utmost importance to their efforts in furthering their mission.
Alongside my team, I planned, managed, and implemented a disaster recovery policy (DRP) for the campaign in which no measures were previously taken to secure their systems and information.

3G Mobile Phone Proposal

Part of the job of upper management is to be away from the office at times, campaigning and communicating with officials that can make a difference for children. As such, they also need to be able to easily communicate via email, Twitter, as well as the ability to make phone calls.
I researched several mobile smartphone solutions and implemented my solution at their request.

VOIP Phone System Proposal

One of the more unique projects I've undertaken at the campaign was the research and proposal of a new Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phone system. The aging phone system currently in place was prone to dropping calls and was limited in functionality and expansion options. I took the liberty of researching and proposing a VOIP solution, which will soon be implemented pending funding.

Putting It All Together: 2008 FSU Truth Tour Live

The end-result of my efforts came to fruition through the first ever "FSU Truth Tour 2008: Steppin' Up For the Kids" event held on FSU Campus. This event, planned by entirely by the Children's Campaign Technology Team, was done through heavy use of the new social media: Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.

Academic Projects

Communication, Presentation, and Project Management Skills

This project demonstrates my ability to instruct users through verbal and written communication skills how to utilize a Project Management web application, Basecamp, to manage a project. I enjoyed this project because it was a unique way to demonstrate my IT specialization, project management.

Networking & IT Security Infrastructure Solution

In this project, I planned a networking infrastructure and security solution for a mock organization in which their networking and security infrastructure was inadequate. In the end, I proposed a solution that was effective in considering the physical, operational, and policy approaches.

Information Systems Design & Implementation

For this project, I planned, analyzed, designed, and implemented an web application information system for a mock startup PC support company, “GeekDog,” where an inefficient system was to be replaced. Database Design

My first database design project was very effective. I designed, tested, and implemented a MySQL database for a mock management and publishing company for the entertainment industry. The system was designed to store various information on artists including album sales, performances, and merchandise sales in order to calculate quarterly profits and net earnings.

Technical Communication

Proposed a complete technological and logistical solution to a mock audience of clientele in which productivity and effciency was not at full capacity due to lack of installed IT infrastructure. Solutions covered all aspects of IT, including hardware, software, telecommunication, budget considerations, as well as non-IT cost saving recommendations such as the restructuring of employee hierarchies and organizational units.
